Visual Studio on eWeek
Seems that the story about VS quality has reached eWeek, and I was mentioned. There is an interesting Microsoft Watch article about it, too. Since I recently went on a ranting spree, I want to clarify some things.
I don't agree with some of the design decisions that Microsoft did. But it is their framework, and I think that they have done a wonderful job in both dotNet Framework and in VS 2005. I just found out that conditional breakpoints works in C#, and it saved me half an hour of stepping to the right solution. I just love what I can do with both IDE and the framework.
I was seriously pissed off about some bugs that I caused some hair pulling. I want to get the record straight about one thing. I wasn't angry about the bugs. Those are highly annoying, yes, but they are a fact of life, I'm afraid. I was angry because there was no story about fixing them before 2007 at best.
I would like to thank Microsoft for releasing an overall great product, and for listening to their customers. Now that we've a service pack promised, I can relax knowing that in a couple of months, I'll get fixes for most of the bugs, and in the meantime, I can use the great features that Visual Studio & .Net 2.0 has.
More specifically, I would like to thank ScottGu for his timely help.
