The Fairy Godmother

The Fairy Godmother is the latest book by Mercedes Lackey that I read. It's very different from her other works. It's a different world, with different rules. And the rules of the game are fairy tales. In this world the very reality tries to make everything into a fairy tale. And it doesn't care if it's a happy or a sad story.

Like all of Lackey's works, it's a complete world, and you get the feeling that there is a background to the story, not a thin coat of paint. It's not really a story about a certain event, but a peek into the life of a Godmother from the time she was an Appertnice up until the time when she faces her greatest challange.

It's not Valdemar, but it's very good.
